STATE CAPITAL SCHWERIN
Culture metropolis on the seven lakes
The smallest state capital in Germany, set in lakeland, is rich in cultural offers and historic architecture. Seven large lakes make up the city area - and the château Schloss Schwerin on an island crowns the centre. The picturesque old town on the land side has winding alleys, small shops with hand made items, exclusive boutiques and cafés with outdoor Summer patios. The former grand ducal residence is rich in artistic house façades, cultural treasures, museums and theatres. The restaurants and bars are worth a visit in the evening.
The state capital Schwerin is only 15 minutes drive from GUT. The route is also good for a cycle tour. You can hire cycles from us at GUT VORBECK.
Our tip: You should not miss the annual Schloss Schwerin festivals. The highly professional opera productions at the Mecklenburg State Theatre are presented from June to August in the open air and rate among the top ten in Europe.
